I'm sure you've either seen articles relating to the changes that are occurring on social media, or you've seen posts from others. No matter where you heard about it, the fact of the matter is... changes are coming to Facebook and although the changes may not affect you and your personal use of the social media site, they will be affecting so many people, including authors, bloggers, small business, entrepreneurs, etc.
If you depend on social media to deliver information to you, you've probably noticed over the last year that the information you are seeking probably isn't reaching you in a reliable manner. Facebook has limited who can see a post and even though they're forcing us to "boost" a post (which means: charging for views), those are even limited. With that said, just like so many others who depend on Facebook to get the word out and to interact with readers/fans, these changes will affect me directly because social media is a tool that I use to engage with you, my readers, and yes, the biggest tool that I've utilized in the past is Facebook.
In order to adapt to these changes, I'm having to resort to the various tools at my disposal in order to keep in touch. Although I will still utilize Facebook, I can't guarantee that you'll get the information if you happen to follow me. Below you will find the numerous ways in which I try to engage with my readers and I'm asking you to PLEASE follow me on any or all of the other options listed below:
Tools that I utilize to push information to you:
1. My blog - Right here is where you'll get major updates (and sometimes some crazy rambling) directly to your email if you so choose.
2. Via my newsletter - My newsletter is my most reliable means of getting information directly to you. I do my best to keep it fun and it is only sent out once a month - plus anytime there are announcements (preorders, release dates) that I feel you may want. And yes, there are generally sneak peeks at upcoming books.
3. My weekly Hot Sheet - Let me just say, this is something new for me that I started just this week and we're having fun with it. The responses to the first edition that went out this past Monday were so incredible. It's short, sweet, and hopefully funny. You get a glimpse into my life on a weekly basis because after all, writing and publishing books is a business for me and you get an up-close-and-personal-look at what goes on with my team (all of them are related to me). Not to mention, I provide reminders of what is coming that week. Check out the first edition for yourself here!
4. Text messaging - If you are in the US, you can sign up to receive text messages from me. At the most, we will send out 3 per month - and these are only utilized for announcements such as book releases, preorders, book signings, blog takeovers, etc. I promise not to spam your phone.
Other social media that I use, and will continue to use so that I can interact with you, the readers - other than Facebook - are:
Twitter, tsu, Goodreads, Instagram, Google +, Pinterest, Amazon
Now... For the fun part:
As a way to encourage you to sign up and follow me on any (or all) of these different options - and to thank you if you've already done so - I thought I'd do a little giveaway.
